About Chief Matthew Clancy:

Chief Clancy joined the Duxbury Police Department in May of 2010. A native of the South Shore, Chief Clancy started his career as a part time patrolman in Rockland, Massachusetts before entering the profession full time with the Mashpee Police Department on Cape Cod. Chief Clancy served with the Mashpee Police Department for over 16 years before his appointment as the Chief of Police in nearby Plympton, Massachusetts. Chief Clancy commanded the Plympton Police Department for eight years before leaving to accept the position of Police Chief here in Duxbury. The Chief holds a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University and a Bachelor's Degree from Western New England College. Chief Clancy, his wife, Holly and family reside in Rochester, Massachusetts.

 

Chief's Message:

Welcome to the redesigned Duxbury Police Department web-site. It is our goal to provide our residents and visitors with the finest policing services possible. We strive to achieve and maintain that through a full time commitment to the community policing philosophy. I am very proud to command the highly talented and dedicated group of police professionals who comprise our department. The Duxbury Police Department, a state accredited agency, serves a dynamic and picturesque coastal community of 15,400 inhabitants located just south of Boston. Whether you are a Duxbury resident, local business owner or a day trip visitor to our beautiful beaches and marinas, the Duxbury Police is committed to providing you a safe environment and an enjoyable experience.

All Duxbury Police employees, both sworn and non-sworn, shall abide by the code of ethics listed in the Department Mission Statement above, as well as is mentioned in the Department Rules and Regulations[1.1.2];[12.2].
